Want to learn more about dog behaviour and training?
Northern Ireland dog trainers and behaviourists Robin Bates and Sandra Gilliland will be teaching the next set of their 10 week accredited 'Principles of Dog Training & Behaviour' courses beginning Monday 22 January 2018 in Northern Ireland.
The course is accredited through the Open College Network Northern Ireland to level 3 standard and will be held over 8 weeks on a Monday evening from 7-9pm - venue currently TBC.
As part of the course, another two classes may then be held at an outdoor dog training area to teach some practical aspects of the course.
The course will mostly involve classroom based learning on the theory behind dog behaviour and training and will require students to do a lot of external reading as well as produce assignments throughout the lengh of the course. There will also be some opportunities for a bit of practical work with dogs.
Attendance over the 10 classes is required.
Areas that will be studied include:
- The development of the domestic dog
- Proven scientific dog training methods
- Canine body language and calming signals
- Dog behaviour problems and how to deal with them
